The feasibility study is the first step toward establishing a public bank.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tonight, September 19<sup>th<\/sup>, the Oakland City Council Meets<\/strong>. Fingers crossed that the Council will authorize the study.<\/p>\n<p>There is more good news. The\u00a0<strong>City of Richmond\u00a0<\/strong>may later help fund this feasibility study, making this a three-city effort.<\/p>\n<p><em>(publicbankinginstitute.org)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Public Bank feasibility study money approved<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>September 20, 2017<\/p>\n<p>It only took about year after it was proposed for the City Council to<br \/>\napprove the money for a feasibility study, and they did it last night without debate and<br \/>\nunanimously. This after Berkeley coughed up $25K to fund a portion of the study (a bit more<br \/>\nthan their per capita share would suggest, but close enough).<\/p>\n<p>So hurray!<\/p>\n<p>Now we will see what further roadblocks the City staff and City<br \/>\nTreasurer will throw in the way of actually signing the contract and getting the study underway&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;JP Massar<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 19, 2017 Berkeley Matches Oakland\u2019s Request!
