Dr. James Taylor and Chesa Boudin talk to the SF Gray Panthers.
Is our country on the verge of coming to terms with the deep damage caused by the enslavement of Africans and generations of subsequent US racism? Reparations are now being considered at the national, state and local levels. The horrendous pattern of police killings of people of color are forcing our society to reconsider the role of the police. What can we in SF do about this?
Speakers:
Dr James Lance Taylor, USF professor Professor of Political Science, African American Studies/Critical Diversity Studies with a Masters in Public Affairs and Urban Affairs; and is one of the 15 members of the SF Reparations Advisory Committee.
Chesa Boudin needs no introduction as San Francisco’s former ground-breaking, progressive SF District Attorney who was recalled from office last year by those (in and outside SF) who support misguided polices that are allegedly “tough on crime”. In office, he took action to implement bold, new humane polices for justice for all, from bail reform to addressing police accountability measures, such as filing charges against an SFPD officer in the first ever use-of-force case against an on-duty officer for excessive force.

4. Thursday, 5:30pm (PT); 8:30 (ET), From US to the Philippines: A Panel on Labor Solidarity
Online register: Meeting Registration – Zoom
On behalf of Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), BAYAN-USA, the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP-US), we invite you to attend an educational event and discussion between labor organizers in the US and the Philippines!
With this sharing, we hope to give a platform for workers in the US and the Philippines to speak on the importance of building international solidarity for trade union organizing and struggles in the Philippines, the United States, and all over the world.
Participating unions and organizations from the Philippines in this event include:
· Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU)
· Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT)
· BPO Industry Employees Network (BIEN)
· Concerned Seafarers of the Philippines
Repression against workers organizing in the Philippines continues to heighten under President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. A joint report published by the the International Labor Organization and Trade Unions in the Philippines highlights recorded violations of international labor standards and rights including cases of illegal arrest and detention, state interference with the right to self organize through threats and intimidation, terror tagging, forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of labor leaders. Most recently, Cebu-based labor organizers April Gumanao and Armand Dahoya were abducted by state forces and held in detention where they were subjected to emotional and psychological torture.
While workers in both the US and the Philippines are suffering from low wages and poverty, unstable employment, understaffing, inhumane working conditions and attacks on the right to unionize, we must strengthen our solidarity between the workers of our countries and our shared fight for workers rights across the world!

Peace In Ukraine
Ceasefire Now
Negotiations to End the War, Not Weapons for Endless War
February 24th 2023, marks the 1-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine. Now, one year later. with estimates of hundreds of thousands of military casualties, several thousand civilian deaths, millions of people displaced, extensive physical and environmental damage, and no end in sight. All of this while the very real danger of nuclear war looms larger than ever. And in the Global South, and around the world, the war has spiked inflation, disrupted deliveries of life-sustaining food and fuel, and derailed aid to developing economies.
On this day peace organizations in the US and all over the world will be taking action to call for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to end the war and a halt to arms shipments that escalate and prolong the war.
Here in the Bay Area we will gather outside Senator Feinstein’s San Francisco office at 1 Post St. (at Post & Market) at noon. Feinstein has voted repeatedly for over $115 billion for the war, mostly for weapons and military purposes. Aspirants for her Senate seat, Representatives Lee, Schiff and Porter have also voted for more weapons and more war. None of them have made serious calls for diplomacy to end the war. Neither has Alex Padilla, California’s other Senator.

COUP 53- A new documentary about the US and British coup in Iran
While making this new documentary about the US/British coup in Iran in 1953, Iranian director Taghi Amirani and editor Walter Murch discovered never seen before archive material that brings to light explosive revelations about dark secrets buried for 67 years….
The cold-blooded maneuvering by the US and Britain to install the tyrannical and pro-imperialist Shah of Iran in 1953 foreshadows this urgent moment.
Right now, in the midst of the heroic uprising of the Iranian people for Woman, Life, Freedom, the son of that old Shah is making a big move to replace the Islamic Republic of Iran and to force a different tyrannical, pro-imperialist government on the Iranian people.
Come to watch this crucial film, and to discuss what happened then and what we can and must do now to support the people of Iran.
