2. Sunday, 1:00pm March to Reject the Racist POA Contract
Meet at:
San Francisco Police Officers Association
800 Bryant St.
(6th Street & Bryant)
SF
March to:
SF City Hall
1 Dr. Carleton B. Goodlett Pl.
SF
On Tuesday, 11/17 the SF Board of Supervisors will vote to approve or reject a dangerous and sneaky contract written by the Police Officers Association that would cement status quo policing for another two years.
This police fraternity contract makes NO changes to policing policy, gives cops more raises, and requires cops to get the same raises teachers, nurses & city workers get. We can do better. Black, brown, trans, disabled, and unhoused lives depend on it.
It would enable the POA to aggressively bully city workers and legitimate unions with their racist agenda even more than they already do. A vote to approve this contract is unacceptable.
Despite widespread demands for a transformation to our approach to public safety, this POA contract perpetuates the racist, status quo. It was negotiated behind closed doors. Now the Department of Human Resources and the Board of Supervisors are trying to fast-track this contract in response to public scrutiny.
We need to remind the Board that their job is to protect Black and brown communities, not police fraternities that uphold violent policing. We need to hold the supervisors accountable!
On Sunday 11/15 at 1 PM we will march to show the Board of Supervisors that we are watching, and that no amount of explanation is going to convince us that they need to guarantee raises to police officers. After running campaigns based on BLM messaging we know that the BoS can do better than this and they know it too.
Tear up the contract.

7. Tuesday, 5:00pm (PT); 8:00pm (ET), Implications of U.S. election on Palestinian human rights advocacy
Register for Webinar:
After U register info will be sent via email to for Zoom platform.
join the #nowaytotreatachild campaign for our upcoming webinar! We’ll reflect on the results of the U.S. elections and its implications for Palestinian human rights advocacy, as well as things to watch for as we enter the 117th Congress in January.
We will also discuss how Israeli military detention of Palestinian children amounts to collective punishment. We hope to have time to debunk a few more opposition talking points.
As you know, we have spearheaded efforts in Congress to advance Palestinian rights. Our main success in the current congressional session has been supporting Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) to introduce H.R. 2407, the “Promoting Human Rights for Palestinian Children Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act.” The bill prohibits U.S. taxpayer funding for the military detention of children in any country, including Israel. Now, we’re preparing our legislative plan for the 117th Congress.
8. Tuesday, 7:00pm – 8:30pm, Online Study Group: The State and Revolution
Please REGISTER:
Tuesday evening group –
A tidal wave of protest against racist police violence coinciding with a deadly pandemic, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and environmental devastation is presenting social activists with urgent and profound political challenges.
– How do we understand and expose the role of the police and legal system in sustaining white male supremacy and class exploitation?
– What demands will most challenge the capitalist status quo, create meaningful change, and empower working and oppressed people?
– What will it take to transform protest in rebellion, and rebellion into a revolutionary transformation of society?
Join us for this remote study group on Lenin’s classic, The State and Revolution. Discussions will sharpen our critical focus on the capitalist state of the 20th and 21st centuries and the tasks of today’s revolutionaries.

A Virtual Watch Party & Panel Discussion of the documentary THROUGH THE NIGHT by Black womxn director, Loira Limbal
In collaboration with our partners at 1199 SEIU Rhode Island and Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence (RICADV), SISTA Fire RI will be hosting a virtual screening of the documentary “Through the Night”.
The documentary looks at the impact the modern economy is having on Womxn of Color and our families.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the film’s director Loira Limbal, along with community organizers and advocates from SISTA Fire RI, 1199 SEIU, and RICADV.
Film synopsis:
To make ends meet, people in the U.S. are working longer hours across multiple jobs. This modern reality of non-stop work has resulted in an unexpected phenomenon: the flourishing of 24-hour daycare centers. THROUGH THE NIGHT is a verité documentary that explores the personal cost of our modern economy through the stories of two working mothers and a child care provider – whose lives intersect at a 24-hour daycare center.
The film follows a mother who works the overnight shift at a hospital; another holding down three jobs to support her family; and a woman who for two decades has cared for children of parents with nowhere else to turn. Over the span of two years, across working holidays, seven day work weeks, and around-the-clock shifts, the film reveals the personal cost of rising wealth inequality in the U.S and the close bonds forged between parents, children, and caregivers.
