A Federal Court hears charges of failing to prevent, and aiding and abetting genocide, filed against Biden, Blinken and Austin – Oakland, CA
Today, inside the Federal Building in Oakland, a federal court heard a lawsuit brought against President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Secretary of Defense Austin. Palestinian plaintiffs charge them with complicity in Israel’s genocide of the people of Gaza.
Outside the courthouse, hundreds of people filled 14th street to carefully unroll long sections of white paper filled with the names of 6,700 Palestinians killed in the first month following October 7th. The finished white banner of names measured 220′ long and was held on one side by people wearing green and on the other side by people wearing black, with a triangle of people wearing red at the top, to signify the Palestinian flag.
Directly in front of the courthouse, others painted the street with a huge and beautiful street mural reading “BIDEN: COMPLICIT IN GENOCIDE – NO BOMBS TO ISRAEL”, and groups in the Plaza gathered in other creative ways to stand in solidarity with the plaintiffs, represented by Center for Constitutional Rights, who were pleading their case inside.

Nostalgic for Nothing Cinema is a new mobile cinema showing radical films in the Bay Area. We are back with two films next week (1/29 and 2/1) that capture the militancy of the liberation movements of Palestine and Oman. We have much to learn and reflect from past struggles; let their militancy and determination continue to inspire our anti-imperialist movements today. A short discussion will follow each film. THE HOUR OF LIBERATION HAS ARRIVED / dir. Heiny Srour / 1974 / 62 mins
In the late 60s, Dhofar rose up against the British-backed Sultanate of Oman, in a democratic, feminist guerrilla movement. Director Heiny Srour and her team crossed 500 miles of desert and mountains by foot, under bombardment by the British Royal Air Force, to reach the conflict zone and capture this rare record of a now mostly-forgotten war

7. Friday, 1:00pm – 2:00pm, Revolutionary Friday: Stop U.S. Funding for Genocide; End the Occupation

The International Criminal Court ruled on provisional measures on January 26.
The court ordered the Israeli government to ensure its military does not commit violations of the convention in Gaza, punish those who incite genocide, immediately provide basic services and humanitarian assistance to Gazans, prevent the destruction of evidence that could show violations of international law, and submit a report to the ICJ on all steps it takes to implement the above measures.
The ICJ did not grant South Africa’s request for a cease-fire.
Despite the court’s rulling…
The bombing of Palestine continues, health care facilities are still targeted as well as nutrition lines. The death toll rises, abductions continue including of children, people are displaced, there is no fresh clean water, aid trucks have been limited to enter Gaza by Isreal. etc.
President Biden, Representative Pelosi and Senators Padillia and Butler are our elected federal officials, they continue to vote for funds for military aid and weapons to Israel. All are resisting the massive calls to stop funding Israel and for a ceasefire in Gaza. All are complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian People! We stand at the Federal Building to call these officials out.
All are welcomed to join the Revolutionary Workers Front and Mothers On The March, to demand an end to the genocide, illegal and violent occupation and apartheid inflicted on Palestinians by the Zionist Israeli government.
We have banners, signs, and chalk for sidewalk messaging. You are also welcomed to bring your own homemade messages.
We Call on the elected Federal officials to:
– End ALL U.S. Military Aid and Weapons to Israel
– End the Blockade of Palestine
– End the Apartheid / Colonialization of Palestine
– A Ceasefire on the Palestinian People by the Zionist government
VIVA PALESTINA!
7. Friday, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, Film: I Am Not Your Negro
Revolution Books Berkeley
2444 Durant Ave.
Berkeley
In the year of the James Baldwin Centennial, join us to watch and discuss: I Am Not Your Negro, directed by Raoul Peck.
Filmmaker Raoul Peck’s Oscar-nominated documentary I Am Not Your Negro features the work of the late writer, poet, and social critic, James Baldwin.
At the time of his death in 1987, he was working on a book, Remember This House, in which he wanted to explore the lives of three of his civil rights movement contemporaries and close personal friends: Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X. It was never completed, but his notes for that project became the foundation for Peck’s film.
Two timely quotes by James Baldwin:
“To be a Negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a state of rage almost, almost all of the time — and in one’s work.”
“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

Israel and Chevron’s profit from the gas Chevron extracts is used to fuel their apartheid state. As Israel bombs Gaza and slaughters Palestinian families, Israel and Chevron profit from gas extracted off the coast of Palestine. This leaves Palestinians without any share of the profit and gives Israel full control of Gaza’s electricity and the energy available. Chevron and Israel have gained billions of dollars while stealing Palestinian access to resources such as income and food sources like fishing.

12. Sunday, 4:00pm (PT); 7:00pm (ET), Philippine Labor Fights Back!
Register: tinyurl.com/phlaborwebinar
Join us for a webinar on US-backed counterinsurgency in the Philippines and its impacts on the Philippine labor movement and workers struggles under the Marcos Jr. Regime. We will be joined by speakers from Kilusang Mayo Uno, a labor center in the Philippines promoting genuine, militant and patriotic trade unionism.
Repression against workers organizing in the Philippines continues to heighten under President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. A joint report published by the the International Labor Organization and Trade Unions in the Philippines highlights recorded violations of international labor standards and rights including cases of state interference with the right to self organize through extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances, illegal arrest and detention, threats and intimidation, and terror tagging of labor leaders.
While workers in both the US and the Philippines are suffering from low wages and poverty, unstable employment, understaffing, inhumane working conditions and attacks on the right to unionize, we must strengthen our solidarity between the workers of our countries and our shared fight for workers rights across the world!
