At the end of 2019, Governor Newsom established the Healthy California for All Commission where he appointed experts to develop a plan for health care reform in California.
There’s only one more public meeting left before the Commission finalizes its report to Governor Newsom and the state legislature. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23rd — and we need to make sure we’re ready.
This meeting is our final opportunity to submit comments and input from the public to make sure that the Commission’s report includes the facts about single-payer health care and why it’s the best solution to guarantee health care for all Californians and address the many severe economic and racial health disparities that plague our state.
Will you give a public comment at the virtual Commission meeting? We’re hosting a prep call on Tuesday, February 22, to give you all the tips and tools you’ll need to feel ready to give your comment to the Commission on Wednesday, Feb 23. RSVP now →

Zoom Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the meeting we’re preparing for — the Healthy California for All Commission Meeting — scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, at 9am PT. |
On the call, we’ll be joined by CNA lead regulatory policy specialist Carmen Comsti and community organizers with the California Nurses Association. Together, we’ll go over the latest commission updates and provide relevant talking points for public comment.
We can’t over-emphasize how important it is for the single-payer movement to have a strong presence in this meeting, Mike.
Given that this Commission was established by the Governor and state legislature to make recommendations for a universal health care system in California — if the Commission agrees that single payer is the best solution — that will give our CalCare campaign tremendous legitimacy with the state legislature and the Governor. It will also create serious momentum in our movement for health care for all as we ramp up our grassroots activism in the coming months.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
