Join us at our September Political Action Committee meeting for a 7-8 pm panel followed by our first HMDC homelessness working group meeting from 8-9 pm. Event is a “no pressure” potluck.

7-8 pm DACA PANEL DETAILS:

HMDC PAC will host a panel presentation and discussion on the history of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), organizing efforts that lead to it’s inception, and options for resisting attacks on DACA, as well as ways that HMDC and community at large can support affected immigrants in this current climate. Speakers will include:

Gomez Arteaga, panel moderator – HMDC E-Board Organizer, will give overview immigration context that lead to DACA.

Charles Philip Balderama Sanchez, HMDC E-Board Treasurer will present on the history of DACA.

Sasha Shane, DACA organizer/recipient currently a Parent Organizing Lead at Bay Area Parent Leadership Action Network will speak to the organizing efforts that lead to DACA

Laura Melgarejo, Civic Engagement Organizer with People Organizing to Demand Environment will speak to actions and ways to plug into supporting DACA students.
