Greetings,
We have another very exciting documentary about a memorable election in 1972.  The title is actually Chisholm ’72: Unbought and Unbossed.  This will bring back memories to some of us and shed light on election strategies in the United States in general.

Hope you can make it,
Larry Danos

Shirley Chisholm72′ Unbought and Unbossed by director Shola Lynch is a compelling documentary on Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman to seek the nomination for the highest office in the land and the first Black woman to be elected to Congress.  Some described her campaign in 1968, as “frenzied, fierce and fundamentally right on”.

With period footage and music, interviews with supporters, opponents, observers and Chisholm own words viewers will see in this film not just a historic run for office but a fight for inclusion by someone who was shunned by the political establishment and media.

Chisholm’s run for the nomination was a run not only for power and position but for an equal place on the presidential Dias and a challenge to the status quo and an opportunity to deliver her message about exercising the right to vote which struck many as progressive then and now.

After the screening there will be a Q&A discussion.
