Articles ~ Actions ~ Events for Friday, October 30 – Monday, November 2 (from Adrienne Fong)

Sorry to have spelled Don’s last name wrong this week. Several people have inquired if there will be a memorial for Don- please let me know if anyone knows of any and I’ll post the info.

Don Bechler has transitioned. Don was a long time activist – in recent years he has been a fierce advocate and the heart for Medicare for All and for Single Payer.

Register: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_XqCDLunkRkWEKVra6kpFQw?timezone_id=America%2FLos_Angeles

The United States is on a path to war with both China and Russia. We are pushing up against the borders of both nations with increasingly aggressive military, political, propaganda, lawfare, and economic moves. Both nations are surrounded by our military and allied forces, and rather than seeking peace and stability, we are escalating confrontations, building up stronger forces which precipitate arms races, and funding internal subversion while declaring that we should dictate the type of governance and behaviors of all nations on earth and demanding that they bow to our will, or else. Doing this with small nations in the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and elsewhere is illegal and immoral and has caused the destruction of entire nations and untold suffering; doing this with two large nuclear armed powers is risking an escalation that could well end in nuclear war and the termination of all human life on earth.

Four speakers will discuss the current situation: K.J. Noh and Col. Ann Wright will speak on China, and Bruce Gagnon and Ray McGovern will speak on Russia. Michael Wong, vice president of Veterans for Peace, San Francisco chapter #69, and a co-chair of the Veterans for Peace China Working Group, will MC.

7. Saturday, 3:00pm, Handmaids: Stop a Fascist Coup

Meet at:

Harvey Milk Plaza
Castro & Market St.
SF

Handmaid costumes will be loaned out.

All are invited to participate

We must vote in big numbers. But, the reality is that voting alone will not stop Trump. The illegitimate rushed confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett, a theocratic fascist, to the Supreme Court is for the immediate purpose of throwing the election to Trump should he lose. This is an outrage that cannot stand!

Trump and Amy Coney Barrett have refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power.

Coups… thefts of power… are stopped when people:

[1] plan and act BEFORE the coup… and
[2] build in the streets the unity and determination while working together… and
[3] establish before the eyes of the world the righteousness of their demand.

This is what we accomplish by being in the streets every day before the election.
