Let’s consider the cost of being the only civilized country in the world that uses the obsolete, archaic Electoral College, which was created to entice slave-owning states to join the union.
If we had gotten rid of that stupidity centuries ago, in 2000 Al Gore would have begun two terms as president. We would probably now have nothing but electric cars and trucks on our highways, probably 80% to 90% of the world’s energy needs would be being supplied by renewables and global warming, the greatest existential threat this planet has ever experienced, would be on the wane.
Also, in 2016, Hillary Clinton would have begun two terms as president and the coronavirus entering this country would have been met with mandated and enforced masking, social distancing and vaccination requirements which would have kept our probable death toll well under 100,000 and certainly not resulted in our current 1.3 million deaths with the attendant financial collapse, subsequent supply-chain problems and raging inflation were experiencing thanks to the world’s worst response to a pandemic.
