Pacific Renaissance Plaza
388 Ninth Street, Suite 290
Oakland
The “Stop the Violence – Solidarity Now!” project is a BAMC social action initiative launched in response to the violence against the Asian community, particularly those attacked by African American males in Oakland’s Chinatown.
The way these incidents have been covered in the media has created a divide among African Americans and Asians throughout Oakland, particularly in Chinatown and surrounding communities. In an effort to take positive strategic action to address the severed relationship between African Americans and Asians in Oakland, BAMC is dedicated to leading efforts that build positive relations between these two racial groups.

7. Sunday, 4:00pm(PT); 7:00pm(ET), The Other 9/11 – the AFL-CIO’s support for the 1973 US coup in Chile betrayed worker
Online –ZOOM day / time of event:: Launch Meeting – Zoom
On September 11, 1973 the US government the CIA with the support of the and AFL-CIO overthrew the elected socialist Allende goverenment and supported a fascist military dictatorship.
The US government and major US corporations were unhappy with the move by the Allende government to take state control over private enterprises that controlled chile’s copper mines and telephone communications. Tens of thousands were arrested and tortured and thousands were murdered with the support of the US government.
It also brought in right wing economist Milton Friedman and the Chicago boys who privatized the pension system, destroyed unions, worker organizations and attacked the left.
The AFL-CIO has yet to confront and take responsibility for this history as it continues international operations in 60 countries through the “Solidarity Center,” funded by the US government through the National Endowment for Democracy. US workers need to call the AFL-CIO to account.US working people and trade unionists need transparency and accountability for their unions here and
around the world.

Union Rights CODESH Chile
Liisa Milos, CWA UPTE UCSF Member and SFLC Delegate

9. Sunday, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Biden’s Imperialist Climate Bill: The Devil Lies in the Big Picture
In person
Revolution Books
2444 Durant Ave.
Berkeley
Some environmentalists herald Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which contains $369 billion of climate spending measures over the next 10 years, as a “watershed moment, a critical turning point that has changed history” that will bring about a clean energy future. Others in the environmental community say that “while the bill is far from perfect, it is at least a start” that could propel the development of solar, wind, and geothermal renewable energy.
What’s really going on?
“When the Biden climate bill is analyzed and measured against
1) the enormity of the problem of global warming caused by the use of fossil fuels;
2) the outsize role that the U.S. has historically played, and continues to play, in heating up the planet;
3) the scale and speed of measures needed to actually cope with this accelerating crisis; and
4) what is not only necessary but actually possible on the basis of a revolution, and a radically new socialist state power and mode of production, as concretized in the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America, authored by Bob Avakian—it becomes clear that this legislation falls massively and obscenely short of what is needed. Worse, this climate bill actually prolongs the dependency of the U.S. economy on fossil fuels.
In plain words, this bill is part of the problem of global warming, not the solution.”

The rules committee of the Board of Supervisors will be again taking up whether or not to let the SFPD use privately owned camera networks to monitor the streets in real time.
While we have won important concessions on the retention time for historical video and sharing with out of state or federal agencies; the fix is in regarding letting cops commandeer private cameras for real time viewing. SF surveillance ordinance sponsor and chair of the rules committee, Supervisor Aaron Peskin, has a deal with SFPD and mayor London Breed for a year-long pilot program to authorize real-time live monitoring.
We say this:
* It’s wrong without an immediate threat to life (an exigent circumstance) — and the SF Bar Association agrees
* SFPD plans to real-time monitor “significant events” to assist with crowd control are unacceptable
* Such a pilot must have specific metrics for impact, including reductions in crime clearance rates, increases in police reponse to crime reports, and evidence of real time arrests made or it is just an excuse for more police surveillance. Where are the metrics for provable public safety impact in this pilot?

12. Tuesday, 9:00am (PT)’ 12Noon (ET), No Way To Treat A Child – Accountability for Palestinian Children & Human Rights Defenders
Webinar registration: #nowaytotreatachild Webinar September 2022 – No Way to Treat a Child (dci-palestine.org)
Please join the #nowaytotreatachild campaign co-leaders from Defense for Children International – Palestine and American Friends Service Committee for a webinar
August was a dark month for Palestinian human rights. On August 5, the Israeli military launched a massive military offensive on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killings of 17 Palestinian children, whose deaths DCIP continues to investigate. Less than two weeks later, Israeli forces raided the Ramallah-area offices of the six Palestinian civil society organizations criminalized by the Israeli government last October. Israeli forces welded the office doors shut and gave official notice declaring the organizations illegal. A few days later, two of the organizations’ directors, including DCIP general director Khaled Quzmar, were summoned for interrogation by Israeli forces.
This webinar will discuss how you can advocate for accountability for both Palestinian children, especially those injured and killed in Gaza, as well as the Palestinian human rights defenders standing up for them.
13. Tuesday, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Day of Reparations to African People
In person
Akwaaba Hall at Uhuru House
7911 MacArthur Boulevard
Oakland, CA 94605
Chairman Omali Yeshitela returns to Oakland’s Uhuru House, headquarters of the African People’s Socialist Party in the 1980s from where he rebuilt the Black Power Movement out of the ashes of COINTELPRO. Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton made his last public appearances at the Uhuru House shortly before his assassination in 1989.
In Oakland, Yeshitela led campaigns that put a Community Control of Housing initiative on the ballot, took over parks and an abandoned building to serve those without homes and built black community economic institutions including Uhuru Foods & Pies and Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles.
He’ll be back in Oakland to speak at the September 13th “Day of Reparations to African People – Oakland”, an annual Uhuru Solidarity Movement event to raise reparations from the white community for Uhuru Movement programs around the U.S. and the world, including community gardens, an African women’s health center, “One Africa, One Nation Marketplaces”, a community basketball court and outdoor event venues, workforce training and housing for African people coming out of prison, along with a community radio station and licensed community kitchens.
At 5am CDT on Friday, July 29, 2022, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), aided by local police, raided the offices and homes of members of the Uhuru Movement in St. Petersburg, Florida and St. Louis, Missouri, including Chairman Omali Yeshitela’s home.
They broke down doors, broke windows, used flashbang devices and drones and threatened residents with automatic weapons, handcuffing them and temporarily detaining them. They stole computers, hard drives, phones, office equipment and files—both business and personal.
According to Yeshitela, “This is an attempt by the U.S. government to attack, discredit and isolate the African Revolution at a time when it is growing in strength and winning on so many fronts. One of the aims of this attack is to cut off the resources, and that is why reparations is more important than ever.”
Another speaker at the event will be Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee and author of “Overturning the Culture of Violence”, who states,
“White people have a responsibility to prevent the state from moving to attack the African People’s Socialist Party in the same way that they have attacked African leaders in the past such as Malcolm X, Patrice Lumumba, Marcus Garvey and others.”
Donations raised through this speaking tour benefit the Uhuru Wa Kulea Health Center.
