A. Day 9 of the CSU wide hunger strike at SJSU‼ Faculty have joined the hunger strike at SJSU.
(Note: Students at students from CSU Long Beach, San Jose State, Sacramento State, and San Francisco State has grown. CSU Dominguez Hills and CSU East Bay joined the movement and Stanford. There are also students on the East Coast campuses that have joined the hunger strike
Students standing up for Palestine have been suspended (Columbia U.)
This week faculty members at SJSU have begun to strike as well in solidarity with both students and those starving in Gaza. The eyes of history are upon us, and our community is demanding action—divestment, transparency, and a clear stand for human rights. Those with power must listen to the voices rising from the heart of this campus and choose to stand on the side of justice. The students participating are struggling, some in very dire conditions. However, we will continue and we will persist, because that is nothing in comparison to those starving in Gaza.

2. Wednesday, 1:00pm (PT); 4:00pm(ET), 77 Years of Ongoing Nakba
Online registration: Webinar Registration – Zoom
This Nakba Day marks 77 years of the Palestinian people’s steadfast struggle against Israel’s violent colonialism and land theft. As we face one of the most brutal phases of this struggle—the ongoing genocide across Palestine, the forced famine and siege on Gaza, and the settler pogroms in the West Bank—we must recognize that these attacks are directly connected to our government’s repression aiming to break the growth of our movement here in the U.S. This webinar will explore lessons that the history of the Palestinian struggle offers us, as well as why mass organizing is our strongest defense. We will outline ways to take action, including the urgent demand for a full arms embargo on Israel. From the boycotts that impact corporate bottomlines, to the shift in public opinion across the U.S., to the historic port actions in Morocco two weeks ago, we will show how organized pressure works and why organizing is key to winning.
Join us in discussing and organizing around these demands:
1. An end to the genocide in Gaza;
2. A full and immediate two-way arms embargo on Israel;
3. The release of all Palestinian political prisoners;
4. Lift the siege on Gaza and allow immediate humanitarian aid and reconstruction;
5. An end to the Zionist occupation of all Palestinian land.

Suggested letter:
“Mayor Lurie, Supervisor Fielder and Planning Commissioners,
Please oppose the new proposed 181-unit, 10 story luxury development at 2588 Mission St. @ 22nd A major fire destroyed the original iconic building killing 38 yr. old Mauricio Orellana, injuring 6 residents, displacing 60 residents, and destroying 26 small businesses in 2015.
The Mission District has seen over 10,000 Latinos displaced since the onset of the tech boom and there is growing evidence that luxury development causes displacement and harmful impacts to communities of color. The City should be pursuing the rights of Mission residents and holding the developer to his responsibility to build housing that meets the needs of this community and furthers fair housing instead of furthering displacement.
There are compliance issues with civil-rights-based Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) laws. The site is in a State and City designated Priority Equity Geography, and the proposed luxury development does not meet the requirements of our community and violates AFFH laws. Cities are not allowed to implement only parts of the Housing Element and not others when proposed projects are moved forward.
Sincerely,”

7. Saturday, 2:30pm, BAY AREA: ALL OUT FOR NAKBA 77 — THE PEOPLE STAND WITH PALESTINE
Meet at:
16th & Valencia St.
SF
For 77 years, the Palestinian people have been subjected to genocide, siege, dispossession, and forced displacement, enduring unfathomable brutality at the hands of the zionist colonial project. This year, the Palestinian people commemorate the 77th year of ongoing Nakba under the zionist entity’s murderous genocidal conditions. The Bay Area must rise up on Nakba day alongside cities across the world to declare: THE PEOPLE STAND WITH PALESTINE, AND THE WORLD REJECTS ZIONISM!
Yet, despite decades of zionist aggression, for 77 years, Palestinians continue to resist, fighting for their land, their liberation, and their return. As the genocide in Gaza intensifies, violence in the West Bank escalates, and attacks on our movement grow, now is the time to show the ruling class that the world rejects Zionism—and that the masses stand with Palestine.
This Nakba 77 March will bring together people from across the world to demand:
1. An end to the genocide in Gaza;
2. A full and immediate two-way arms embargo on Israel;
3. The release of all Palestinian political prisoners;
4. Immediate humanitarian aid and reconstruction for Gaza;
5. An end to the Zionist occupation of all Palestinian land.

Meet outside:
Citibank Building,
88 Kearny St (corner of Post)
SF
*Demand Restitution and Reparations Now
*Demand the Right to Asylum for Haitian Refugees
*Demand Stop the Flow of US Made Weapons
In 1804, the Haitian revolution successfully destroyed slavery in Haiti and won independence from France. In 1825, the French government sent warships to force the Haitians to pay their former French enslavers 150 million gold francs for their “lost property” or face an invasion. Paying off this “debt,” which was taken over by Citibank and estimated in today’s market to be up to 115 billion dollars, is what impoverished Haiti. In 2003, President Jean Bertrand Aristide demanded that France pay restitution. Nine months later he was overthrown in a coup orchestrated by France, US and Canada.
Today in Haiti, slow motion genocide is deepening as paramiliary death squads, funded by the Haitian elite and equipped with US-made weapons, are running rampant. Massacres and systematic rape are relentless. One million people have been internally displaced and more than half of the population is suffering from acute hunger. Now the Trump administration plans to deport half a million Haitian migrants back to this situation by the end of the summer.
Facing all this, the popular movement continues to fight back, but our solidarity is critical. May 18th is celebrated throughout the Haitian diaspora in commemoration of the creation of the Haitian flag in 1804.
