AD17 Candidates Forum

The four contenders running to represent half of San Francisco in the California State Assembly – Bilal Mahmood, David Campos, Matt Haney, and Thea Selby – will participate in this candidates forum, moderated by small business owner Manny Yekutiel (Manny’s). This free event is open to the public and pre-registration is required. Events sponsors and audience members will be invited to send in questions in advance which will inform the questions presented by the moderator.

This special forum is co-sponsored by the Golden Gate Business Association, the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce of San Francisco, the San Francisco Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, and the San Francisco Council of District Merchants Association.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of San Francisco’s diverse cultures and economy. Prior to the pandemic, small businesses in San Francisco often faced great hurdles in getting started and surviving. The challenges can be even greater for historically disadvantaged communities. The pandemic has exacerbated conditions for small businesses on many levels. What will our representatives in the state legislature do to help small businesses recover and thrive?

The Special Election Primary will take place on February 15, 2022. The election is a two-round system. If no candidate wins a simple majority of votes in the primary election, then the top two vote-getters will face off in a general election on April 19, 2022.
