This January, AB 1400, otherwise known as CalCare, will be up for reconsideration in the state legislature — and according to a recent poll, 67 percent of likely voters and 85 percent of Democrats in California support a single-payer health care system.
The data is on our side: it’s clear that California is ready for single-payer guaranteed health care to become a reality in our state.
To make it happen, we’re working to activate more of these voters to become vocal advocates of AB 1400 — and thanks to our collective organizing efforts, we’ve identified over 54,000 CalCare supporters who we’re ready to call and ask to step up.
The only problem? So far, we’ve made just 8,400 calls to these single-payer supporting voters. That’s just 15% of our goal. Put simply, we’re just not making enough calls, which is why we’re looking for more volunteers like you.
The special thing about these phone banks is that we’re making calls to people who are already excited about single-payer health care! I’ve taken part in a few recent CalCare phone banks hosted by our District Leaders, and the vast majority of people I spoke to are with us and ready to take action. Overall, it was an amazing experience — I’ve even got a picture to share below!
We’ve got the data behind us, and we know the policy of CalCare is right — now, we just need a mass movement of Californians who are organized and ready to get it done.
