‘We Were Never Invited’ — Advocates Work to Tie Chinatown’s Art to the Community
After decades of community advocacy, local groups have increased opportunities for Asian Americans to create public art.
And now the city’s Arts Commission and the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco are expanding that effort by building a catalogue of Asian artists, many of whom might otherwise go unseen, to create future works.
Public datasets like these are generally considered a transparency win, but Madison says for everything the dashboards showed, there was much more that they obscured.
Panelists Confirmed — Bring Us Your Housing Questions Sept. 3!
How would San Francisco’s Prop. G, the subsidy for extremely low-income rentals, work? How will yanking a $20 billion regional housing bond from the ballot affect the development of affordable housing? Join our conversation with:
Karoleen Feng, Chief Community Real Estate Officer at the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA).
Anni Chung, President and CEO at Self-Help for the Elderly
We’ll be at KALW’s downtown hub at 220 Montgomery St. in San Francisco on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The panel starts at 6 p.m., but come at 5 p.m. for refreshments and to chat with our team!
Can’t make it? Send us your questions anyway — we’ll try to get them answered and let you know when you can hear a recording of the event on the radio.
