Dear Mike,

Now more than ever, the rights of birthing people are under attack in this country. As PNHP-NY Metro, we stand by the key components of Reproductive Justice as defined by SisterSong: “the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities”. Our fight for universal healthcare is not complete without the inclusion of comprehensive reproductive healthcare for all.

The Supreme Court is expected to overturn Roe v. Wade in the coming weeks, which would have a detrimental impact on abortion access in this country. Abortion is considered a safe procedure. In New York City, the pregnancy-related mortality rate is up to 100x higher than the mortality rate related to abortions in the US.

Join us for our next forum “Universal Healthcare IS Reproductive Healthcare” on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:30pm to review the state of reproductive healthcare in our country and what single payer would mean for reproductive healthcare access. We will also review action items for what can be done to support abortion access in this critical moment.
