Day of Action at West County Detention Facility

Public

 · Hosted by Cleve Jones and Edward Wright
  • Tuesday, June 26 at 7 AM – 7 PM
    Next Week
  • SF Bay Area

Details:

The only ICE facility in the Bay Area is located within the West County Detention Facility in Richmond, CA and operated by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. On any given day, approximately 200 immigrants are detained there. Contra Costa County Sheriff John Livingston refuses to permit local organizations and elected officials to inspect the facility. One of his deputies was recently arrested and charged with sexual assault against two inmates. We are working with Richmond-based community organizations, labor unions and immigrant rights groups to protest Trump’s cruel immigration policies as well as the racial disparities in our justice system that contribute to mass incarceration of people of color, particularly African-Americans. Please join us this Tuesday, all day, as we stand against Trump’s racist policies. Additional details will be posted daily, including endorsements and transportation information. JOIN US!

  1. Cynthia Cosulich says:

I would also like to know more specifically what the focus of tomorrow’s event will be and would like information as to where to meet, what to bring, and hoped for outcomes.

  2. Maureen Healy says:

“Day of Action” is a bit vague and the description is broad.
Would like to know the focus of this day’s event — separation of families or other? Recommendations for signs we should make/bring? Outcomes you are hoping for?
    Thank you.
