On July 24, wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu is set to address a joint meeting of Congress to request more U.S. aid for his ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. Providing this platform to Netanyahu, a war criminal carrying out a genocide as we speak is a profound insult to the over hundred thousand Palestinians who have been killed or injured just in the past nine months, and is a profound insult to the U.S. population, a majority of whom reject the ongoing U.S. collaboration with Israel’s assault on the Palestinian people. Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers have been united in their support for Israel but there is no reason why a war criminal, guilty of crimes against humanity, should be allowed to address Congress.
On July 24, we will convene from across the country in the largest rejection of a foreign diplomatic visit in U.S. history. We will call for his arrest in accordance with the ICC and for the end of U.S. aid and weapons to Israel. We will surround the Capitol to form to show that Netanyahu is not welcome in the U.S. The labor contingent will meet at 4th St NW & Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
In its proudest moments, the labor movement has stood firmly on the side of the oppressed, and therefore on the side of justice. We raise our voices today in the spirit of that proud tradition of the same movement that stood against South African apartheid and in solidarity with trade union resistance to Latin America dictatorships.
We raise our voices to demand that the U.S. government end its supply of aid and weapons to Israel and to demand the arrest of war criminal Netanyahu in accordance with the ICC ruling.
We raise our voices to express our solidarity with the people of Palestine.
We are therefore inviting you to join our labor contingent for this national mobilization on July 24th.
