Lenel came to various Strike Debt and SDBA related events over the
years, so I thought people might want to know that she has died.
From Paul Jolly:
Lenel graduated from John Woolman School in 1978, attended Earlham
College, provided childcare for Berkeley Friends Meeting and Pacific
Yearly Meeting years ago, and, more recently, participated in the BFM
poetry group. Lenel was fiercely independent and cheerfully committed
to living on her own terms. She was warm, exuberant, curious, and
generous.
A memorial will be held in the meeting room behind Denny’s, 11344 San
Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday 1/8.
For those planning to attend, please note: One expression of Lenel’s
independence was mistrust of public health experts about Covid. Many
of her friends shared that skepticism. Some of those attending the
memorial will be unvaccinated.
