1. Thursday, 4:00pm (PST), “LONG DISTANCE REVOLUTIONARY” movie about Mumia Abu-Jamal ~ Online Event

Online anyone on/off facebook

FREE online event! Register Here: tinyurl.com/mumia-film

Watch this important, well-made film about Mumia Abu-Jamal – from Philly- a loving father, veteran Black Panther, brilliant and award-winning radio journalist and writer, and Political Prisoner of 41 years.

HOW YOU CAN HELP MUMIA: Go to lovenotphear.com and watch the 6 minute video of Judge Lucretia Clemons, who is Mumia’s judge now. After watching the video, write a letter to the judge and email to lovenotphear@gmail.com . We must get to the heart of Mumia’s judge.

ABOUT THE MOVIE: The movie Long Distance Revolutionary is the first of its kind about Mumia. Instead of focusing on Mumia’s case, this film focuses on his life, motivations, family, time in the Black Panther Party, his radio career, reporting on MOVE, his writing, and his life on Death Row. It’s an excellent, artfully made film about Mumia, who Angela Davis calls “the 21st Century’s Frederick Douglass.”

Cast includes Angela Davis, Cornel West, Alice Walker, Amy Goodman, and Rubin “Hurricane” Carter.

Host: Malcolm X Grassroots Movement – Detroit and Moratorium Now Coalition

2. Friday, 11:00am – 1:00pm, Biden Declare a Climate Emergency – Joye Braun Day of Action Bay Area

In person

SF Federal Building
90 7th St.
SF

Join us at the SF Federal Building on Jan. 20th for a rally with speakers and street art, as we demand that President Biden:

1. Declare a Climate Emergency

2. Stop All Fossil Fuel Projects

3. Honor Indigenous & Human Rights.

In honor of the birthday of the late, extraordinary frontline activist Joye Braun, as well as
the halfway point of Biden’s current administration, we will be shining a spotlight on our local frontline climate and justice issues and showing why we need immediate executive action to protect our communities.

Joye was a a citizen of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Nation, a dedicated water protector and pipeline activist, and an inspiration to everyone who met her. In 2016 when the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe became the epicenter of a global climate justice movement, Joye was the first camper at what became the Sacred Stone and Oceti Sakowin camps. These camps became the largest mobilization of Indigenous nations in over 140 years.

With this rally action, we are joining hundreds of other people across the country to continue her legacy and fight for Climate Justice.

Watch the YouTube video featuring Joye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DfS2vaMA8A

This event is part of the People vs. Fossil Fuels Coalition nationwide day of
climate emergency action

In person

Meet at:

Philip Burton Federal Court House

SF

Gather at the Philip Burton Federal Courthouse. Then march together the short distance to Civic Center where the Walk for Life West Coast will hold its annual rally. Our counter protest will be there.

The National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice is still organizing and fighting for bodily autonomy for all, in spite of the overturn of Roe. Please join us for a united action that includes everyone who is deeply concerned about the far right’s agenda. We especially need people to help take on the tasks of organizing a united effort!

We face the effects of global corporations’ competition and profit maximization which has led to economic warfare pitting the U.S. and the E.U. against Russia and China. The Covid pandemic and the effects of the war in Ukraine have impacted the lives of working people everywhere. The majority of people continue to face soaring inflation, rising interest rates and declining living and working conditions. In response, efforts to organize unions, as well as protests and strikes by workers and the poor have exploded around the world. To fight back we need to understand the capitalist system we confront today.

Richard D. Wolff will be discussing these important issues, followed by a Q & A and discussion. Wolff  is a professor of economics emeritus at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and is the host of the weekly program, Economic Update, which is produced by Democracy at Work, which he co-founded. And check out Wolff’s recent article about the general economic situation as we head into the new year.

6. Sunday, 1:00pm, Stop US Wars! Disband NATO! Money for Jobs and Education Not for the Pentagon!

In person  Meet at: the Lake Merritt Columns

March to: Lake Merritt Amphiheater
Oakland

As Martin Luther King, Jr. so correctly reminded us, the U.S. is the greatest purveyor of violence in the world. Since WWII, the US has initiated more than 60 military interventions in foreign countries. The US/NATO proxy war in Ukraine, whose origins reside in the 2014 US-backed-fascist led coup that replaced the elected Ukrainian government, brings the US in direct confrontation with a major nuclear power as does the U.S. provocation against China over Taiwan.

Free Mumia, Assange, Peltier, Saab!

Join us at the Lake Merritt Columns to demand: Stop All US Wars! Money for Human Needs Not War! Disband NATO! Not one Penny for War in the Ukraine! Free all U.S. political prisoners!
