Scrap the Electoral College

(info@voteractionproject.org)

Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Robert Reich are leading the charge to ditch the Electoral College and switch to a national popular vote system. Why?

➜ The Electoral College is the reason Trump won in 2016, despite losing the popular vote by millions

➜ Joe Biden nearly lost the presidency even though he won the popular vote by a historic margin

➜ Every day new leaders join our movement, which means we can abolish the Electoral College and give us a true democracy
We keep talking about this because it’s true: We already have 76% of the states needed to make the popular vote the law of the land because they have signed the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is an agreement among a group of U.S. states and the District of Columbia to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the overall popular vote in the 50 states and the District of Columbia.  16 states plus DC have already joined, accounting for 206 electoral votes of the 270 needed to win.
