❌  NO TO SF FLEET WEEK

1. CAMPAIGN AGAINST MILITARISM AND WAR WEEK OF ACTION BEGINS TODAY!

ILPS NorCal and Resist US-Led War invite all organizations, communities and individuals to join the No to Fleet Week Campaign with a Week of Action this October 4th through October 13th!

With the U.S. military and navy coming to the Bay Area’s own rooftops and backyards, join our organizations in taking up a week of action against Fleet Week and all manifestations of U.S.-driven war & militarization!

Despite the active defunding of social services and denial of federal assistance to communities in need of emergency relief from Hurricane Helene, Biden instead rampantly funnels millions of dollars to air shows and Fleet Week demonstrations. The US sends billions more to fund genocide and human rights violations in Gaza, Lebanon, the Philippines, and all across the world. Join the No to SF Fleet Week campaign in our political education and flyering activities to expose the true nature of Fleet Week and the U.S. military.

2.  Sunday, 1:00pm, ALL OUT FOR PALESTINE AND LEBANON: ONE YEAR OF GENOCIDE, ONE YEAR OF RESISTANCE

16th & Valencia
SF

As we approach the one year mark of Israel’s genocide on Gaza, we join the national day of action for Palestine to salute our people’s steadfastness and resistance. We will take to the streets on October 6th to mark this brutal year where our people stood tall against Zionism and the Israeli war machine, as they have for nearly 100 years.

In the span of one year, the Gaza Health Ministry has released the names of over 40,000 martyrs, with updated projections estimating over 189,000 martyrs. Amidst this genocide, our people in Gaza, across Palestine, and across the world remain steadfast in our resistance.

The genocidal Zionist project has passed a point of failure beyond which there is no return, due in no small part to our movement. The Bay Area has fought hard for Palestinian liberation. Our communities have built a broad intersectional movement of anti-racists, abolitionists, students, and labor unions to stand up against war, militarism, oppression, and exploitation here and in our homelands.

The tide has turned: Zionism and Israel’s system of apartheid and colonialism have been exposed for the whole world as unjust and untenable. Millions of workers, students, families, and people of conscience around the globe have joined the movement for Palestinian liberation in the last year.

The Bay Area will honor our martyrs in Palestine, we will demand an end to the US’ complicity in Israel’s crimes against Palestine and the world, and demand an arms embargo on Israel. Palestine will be free, and we will continue to march, organize, and fight.

3.  Sunday, 6:00pm, HAITI SOLIDARITY – Concert & Fundraiser to Benefit the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund

La Pena Cultural Center
3105 Shattuck Ave.
Berkeley

Today, the situation in Haiti could not be more dire. Government backed paramilitary groups continue to terrorize opposition neighborhoods. Six hundred thousand people have had to flee their homes in the wake of this  violence. Food insecurity now threatens nearly 5 million people,  including 2.4 million children, in a country of 12 million. Donations to the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund  go directly to grassroots organizations in Haiti that are the hope for Haiti’s future. Your funds support internal refugees who have been driven from their homes and those fleeing Haiti. They help sustain grassroots women’s organizations, mobile health clinics and literacy programs in Haiti’s poorest communities. Your donations will help support the University of the Dr. Aristide Foundation (UNIFA), which has opened a new teaching hospital under the most challenging conditions. Your funds will aid the growth of independent community-based media, so critical in a society where the rich control almost all sources of information.

7. Tuesday, 12 Noon – 1:00pm, HEALTHCARE DIE-IN

Kalmanovitz Library
Parnassus St.
SF

Next week marks one year since the beginning of the most recent phase of genocidal violence in Palestine. We are calling on our fellow healthcare workers and community members to join us for a die-in on Oct 8, 12-1pm at Kalmanovitz Library. This die-in is meant to obstruct the visual and sensory, reminding those navigating around it that Gazans are being slaughtered as we speak. It is also a homage to the ones who remain in Palestine and Lebanon, facing an imperial, genocidal war machine alone.

If you are a healthcare worker, please make sure to wear related clothing (e.g. scrubs, white coats)!

We hope to see you there- until liberation

9. Tuesday, 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Palestine Rally: Public Tashlich In Protest—Cast Off Zionism!

121 Steuart St.
SF

Wear black.

Access info: Wheelchair accessible location, 7 minute walk from Embarcadero station and public bathroom within walking distance, optional choreographed movement in stationary location (not a march), wheat/gluten bread will be thrown in a designated space, masks are required for COVID-19 and surveillance safety, please reach out to @yentlsvengeance.88 on signal with any additional access questions!

Tashlich is a Jewish atonement ritual performed during the High Holy Days on Rosh Hashanah. The name comes from the Hebrew word meaning “to cast”, referring to the intent to cast away our sins via this meaningful and ancient custom common to both Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities. Please come wearing black.
On the one year commemoration of the Gaza genocide and heightening West Bank pogroms, join us in a public tashlich to Cast off Zionism.

We will be exposing the sins of the JCRC and the Jewish federation, which include defending genocide, sabotaging ethnic studies programs in SFUSD and promoting rampant anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab racism locally. We demand our electeds know the JCRC does not speak for the Bay Area Jewish community.

Wednesday, October 9

10. Wednesday, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, Election 2024: Trump’s Fascism, Harris’ War crimes, and the Interests of Humanity

Revolution Books – Berkeley
2444 Durant Ave.
Berkeley

Come to this presentation and discussion.
In a recent social media post (#88), Bob Avakian cited this comment from someone arguing that we must vote for Kamala Harris:

“If Democrats lose [the upcoming election] there is no fighting for a new system as the other side already has their new authoritarian system planned out and ready to roll it with project 2025. Battles are how you win wars and losing this election means the initial war is over and lost. Then a much harder war begins that we can’t win without great casualties.”

Avakian responded:

“This utterly fails to actually think outside the framework, and confines, of this system. It ignores—or downplays, and does not really come to terms with—this important reality, which I emphasized in my message number 85: As horrific as Trump is, supporting Harris and the Democratic Party means enlisting as willing accomplices in the crusade of U.S. capitalism-imperialism to remain the world’s number one exploiter, oppressor and plunderer of people and the environment, even at the cost of risking the future, and the very existence, of humanity.”

Are you disgusted by the prospect of voting for either Trump or Harris? But cannot see any other real choice except Harris? Then you need to come to Revolution Books and be part of digging into what is real and what is not (hint: revolution in the USA is a lot more possible and real than Kamala Harris acting in the interests of humanity.) Come hear why these are rare times when an actual revolution is more possible.
