Sign up to March:
In city streets, town squares and capital buildings across the world, people will rise up to demand politicians stand with their communities and deliver more than just words just days before the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco.
ABOUT
A powerful movement of Indigenous people, frontline communities, immigrants, people of color, people of faith, young people, Californians, and people from across the world are demanding real climate leadership to keep fossil fuels in the ground.
We demand a just, equitable and resilient 100% renewable energy economy that rapidly expands economic opportunity, creates family sustaining jobs, and protects vulnerable communities, workers, and future generations.
We are just one month away from the RISE for Climate, Jobs & Justice march on September 8th, a mass mobilization and demonstration occurring in our own backyards.

The march in San Francisco will be the flagship event of an international day of action that will take place in thousands of cities across six continents. It is up to us convey the message that our elected officials cannot treat the current climate catastrophes with a business-as-usual approach. There are lives and communities being devastated. We need real climate leadership now.

Will you join us?

We demand Real Climate Leadership, which requires:
- Environmental, racial, and economic justice for all
- No new fossil fuel development and a managed decline of existing fossil fuel production
- A just transition to 100% renewable energy that protects workers, Indigenous peoples and frontline communities — both in these extractive industries and more broadly — and ensures family-sustaining jobs with the right to unionize, that are safe for people and the planet
- Just and equitable resiliency and recovery efforts led by the communities most impacted;
We’re marching as part of a global day of action before Governor Jerry Brown welcomes the world to San Francisco for the Global Climate Action Summit. There is no time left for false solutions and empty promises – we’re demanding real climate leadership from Governor Brown and all elected officials. That means no new fossil fuel projects and a just transition to 100% renewable energy. Bring your flags, banners, signs, family, neighbors & friends! The march ends at Civic Center where you can participate in the creation of the largest street mural project in history depicting solutions from the grassroots!
It will take all of us to make this the largest climate march the west coast has ever seen.
Will we see you there? RSVP to march on September 8th here: ca.riseforclimate.org

Dear Mike,
Ten days from now, thousands of people from across the country will descend on the streets of San Francisco for the largest climate march the West Coast has ever seen. Together we will Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice as part of a global day of action to demand our elected leaders commit to no new fossil fuels and a just and fair transition to 100 percent renewable energy. The eyes of the world will be on this march. Will you join me there?
Marchers will gather at 10 a.m. at the foot of Market Street near Embarcadero Plaza, marching up Market Street to Civic Center Plaza near San Francisco City Hall. At the end, marchers can enjoy music, help create a giant street mural and visit a resource fair featuring dozens of organizations who helped make the march possible (including CREDO!). The San Francisco march will be the largest event in the global day of action, just days before Gov. Jerry Brown convenes a global climate action summit in the city. Gov. Brown has called climate change an “apocalyptic threat,” but his administration has issued more than 20,000 new oil drilling permits in California.1 With only months remaining in his term as governor, this is his last chance to demonstrate real climate leadership.2 CREDO will be marching with dozens of other groups in the Brown’s Last Chance Coalition3 to call on Gov. Brown to commit California to no new fossil fuels. To change everything, we need everyone: in the streets, at the ballot box and beyond. With the 2018 midterm elections fast approaching, now is the time to engage and mobilize our communities for climate, jobs and justice. Our future depends on California setting a model for bold climate action. I hope you can join me on Sept. 8! Pledge to join the Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice March in San Francisco Sept. 8.
