San Francisco becomes the largest US city to adopt a ceasefire resolution.

Thank you to the San Francisco families, teachers, workers, healthcare professionals, youth, community and union leaders who showed up, gave public comments, called, emailed and organized for the last several weeks to ensure that San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors stands on the right side of history, and acts in the interests of the vast majority of our city’s diverse communities. In a 8-3 supermajority vote, the Board adopted a resolution calling for an immediate and sustained ceasefire in the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza. The vote comes after weeks of broad community support for the resolution, with a record number turning out in the thousands for board meetings and tens of thousands of emails sent to the board, urging them to pass the resolution.

The people of San Francisco have been consistent in saying NO to genocide, NO to ethnic cleansing, and YES to dignity for Palestinians and all people. This resolution is a good first step in the long road ahead for our people to be represented with the dignity and respect they deserve, and shows that the board and our city stand against bigotry and racism of all forms. As we mourn the devastating loss of our loved ones, we will  continue our work to end this genocidal war, and to advance peace and justice here in San Francisco and around the world.

International Day of Action to Demand
#CeasefireNOW #StopArmingIsrael
January 26, 2024

Our community is losing loved ones each day, and our members are charging Biden with genocide. AROC has joined partner organizations in submitting an amicus brief in support of the genocide complaint being heard in the federal court in Oakland on January 26th.

The Biden administration is complicit in the unfolding genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. A lawsuit from Center for Constitutional Rights on behalf of Palestinians from Gaza, including 3 Bay Area community members, has been brought against Pres. Biden, Secretary Blinken, and Secretary Austen for their failure to prevent this genocide, on behalf of millions of Palestinians who are enduring the devastating effects of Israel’s rampage and occupation.

The case will be heard by the Oakland Federal Court! Bay Area, let’s rise up to hold the Biden Administration accountable for this genocide! Details to come!

On January 26, we encourage all people of conscience to take action while the lawsuit is being heard in the courtroom. If powerful countries are not held to their human rights obligations to prevent genocide, the law must be taken into the streets.
