Susan Sarandon Joins CODEPINK for a Ceasefire

CODEPINK • Feb 15, 2024 SUSAN SARANDON SAYS CEASEFIRE NOW! Today, Susan Sarandon joined CODEPINK in Congress to push members for a ceasefire and restoring funding to UNRWA. We spoke with dozens of members and sought out meetings with key representatives, such as Rep. Torres and Rep. Jeffries. Both representatives denied our requests. Both have taken over a million from the pro-Israel lobby. We also spoke with staff from Speaker Johnson’s office as the fate of the latest bill for funding Israel falls to him. Representatives like Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush, who have bravely championed the cause for peace, stood as symbols of integrity in the face of adversity and held encouraging meetings with us. As we see Israel bombard over a million refugees in Rafah, we want to know how much longer these lobbyist-backed representatives will deliberately ignore the pain and suffering of Palestinians? When will they stop sending money to back a genocide? We need an immediate, permanent ceasefire. We need to fully fund UNRWA for the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid. We need our government to cut off all funding to Israel. The lives of over a million people depend on it.
