Rousseau on eating the rich

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

“When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich.”

― Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Jean-Jacques Rousseau (June 28, 1712 – July 2, 1778 ) was a Swiss philosopher, writer, and composer who lived and worked in France during the Enlightenment. His political and moral philosophy influenced Western Europe, including the French Revolution and the development of modern political thought. Rousseau’s central political doctrine was that a state’s legitimacy depends on being guided by the “general will” of its citizens.
