Israel has already lost the Gaza war it just doesn’t know it yet

Middle East Eye • May 19, 2025 David Hearst, editor-in-chief of Middle East Eye, argues that—as with the Vietnam War—two key factors will bring an end to the slaughter in Gaza: the determination of Palestinians to remain on their land, and growing public outrage in the West, which is rapidly turning against Israel. “It is both in Palestine and in the hearts and minds of the West — from which the Zionist project grew, and on which it is so dependent — that this war is being fought,” says Hearst. He believes these two factors will lead the Palestinians people to their own state and while Israel may win each battle, as the Americans did in Vietnam, but it will lose the war.
