Here is a description of Li’s talk:

China and the Praxis of Internationalism from Below

“China has become a dominant foreign policy issue and its ‘containment’ has functioned as a rare point of bipartisan agreement in both aisles of the US hawkish establishment. How should socialists organize to support those resisting Chinese state capitalism, without amplifying the ‘new Cold War’ rhetoric of US and Chinese state elites? This talk aims to examine how international solidarity from below across borders helps us understand refugee rights, global labor standards, climate justice, anti-extractivism, as concrete arenas of struggle to counter inter-imperial collaboration and competition.”

This discussion series aims to give DSA members and the left an outlet for informed, substantive, comradely discussions on the complexities of the PRC to create greater coherence within the org and continue to evaluate our positions amidst changing circumstances.

China has become an important issue for socialists today. At the most recent DSA national convention, the org updated its platform to, among other things, oppose US nationalism and all forms of US imperialism, “turn away from a new Cold War with China,” and encourage peaceful relations with the PRC to end climate change and COVID-19.

Li does not speak for any DSA body. A related article to his talk can be found here.
