Join Bayan USA, the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP), Malaya Movement, and grassroots Philippine organizations across the San Francisco Bay Area, we would like to formally invite you to attend the People’s SONA, short for People’s State of the Nation Address

People’s SONA (PSONA) functions as an alternative to the president’s State of the Nation Address, and aims to condemn the incoming Marcos/Duterte regime. In response to their lack of transparency regarding the stolen elections and the rewriting of history especially that of Marcos’s father who instituted Martial Law, our proposed call is to reject the illegitimate Marcos-Duterte tandem! Through PSONA, we aim to bring together as many people as possible to show that we will not sit idly by as the Marcos-Duterte regime kills, imprisons, and neglects the Philippine masses.

PSONA is a worldwide event, with Filipino-led organizations and allies from all over the globe uniting to call out the lies and offenses of the Duterte regime. By uniting behind and centering the voices of those oppressed and dispossessed by the incoming Marcos/Duterte tandem, we address the true state of the Philippines, that which Marcos’’s State of Nation Address hides behind faux nationalism and countless other falsehoods.

We call Filipinos and Friends across the Nation who realize the value and necessity of Human Rights & National Independence to unite for systemic change desperately needed in the Philippines. This means fighting for National Sovereignty and Genuine Democracy within the Philippines! End tyranny in the Philippines!

–The call is for the resignation of La Raza’s executive director Gabriel Medina

-In March, workers of Companeros del Barrio, were asked by workers at La Raza Community Center to  support their struggle against La Raza’s management

Now the workers at La Raza have been intimidated by management to not protest

5. Thursday, 4:00pm, France Pay Your Debt to Haiti! – Protest at French Consulate & Citibank

In person

88 Kearny St. (nr. Post St.)
SF

July 28th is the anniversary of the 1915 US Marines invasion of Haiti. The 19 years of US military occupation that followed – with its attendant martial law, conscripted labor, corporate land grabs, Wall Street profiteering, white supremacy – emerged as a blueprint for US/western intervention throughout the Americas and the impoverishment of Haiti that continues to this day.

Join us to demand that France pay its debt to Haiti. France forced the Haitian people to pay what amounted to over $21.7 billion in today’s money as “restitution” to their former French enslavers, robbing Haiti of billions of dollars that could have developed the Haitian economy and infrastructure. In 2003, the democratically elected government of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide announced that it was pursuing this demand; this was a key factor in France’s cooperation and support for the U.S.-orchestrated coup that overthrew Aristide’s government and launched another foreign occupation in Haiti. Join us to condemn the ways in which the US and France continue to exploit Haiti’s resources, dominate its political life and prop up the tiny, violent and corrupt Haitian elite that now rules the country.

Join us to affirm our solidarity with the powerful Haitian grassroots movement that continues to fight for democracy and true sovereignty.

6. Thursday, 7:30pm, Protest SF New DA Brooke Jenkins

In person

Imperial Palace

SF

DA Brooke Jenkins is invited as a guest to this event “Fight Asian Hate Party” Fight Asian Hate: Celebrating API Empowerment:

Fight Asian Hate: Celebrating API Empowerment, Imperial Palace, San Francisco, July 28 2022 | AllEvents.in

On July 28th,  in Chinatown, the new “district attorney “ is supposed to be a guest. It is promoted as an “Anti- Asian Hate” event but in actuality it is the movement behind the recall of Chesa Boudin.

Some of the sponsoring groups are also involved in the hate messages to Supervisor Gordon Mar.

This is really dangerous. We know that they have been using  “Anti – Asian Hate” to build facsism right here in San Francisco

We need people to clearly denounce how the Asian community is  being  used by the 0ppolitivians in the city taking advantage that many do not speak English and are brought to vote and to protest against all progressive measures without them even knowing what they are doing. Much of their campaign is based and elevating fear amongst the Asian Community

We need people to clearly denounce how the Asian community is  being  used by the 0ppolitivians in the city taking advantage that many do not speak english and are brought to vote and to protest against all progressive measures without them even knowing what they are doing.
