Tenants Convention in D8: Castro, Noe, Duboce

Details

The Tenants Convention in D8 will bring together renters in the various parts of supervisor District 8, which includes the Castro, Noe Valley, Duboce Triangle, Glen Park and the north edge of the Mission, to talk about strategies for combating speculation in our neighborhoods, which is one of the primary forces driving our current housing crisis.

The convention will feature a “know your rights” training, a talk on speculation and how it leads to higher rents and evictions, and then ways that people can fight it and help stop evictions and displacement.

The convention, which is free, will take place on June 3 at the Women’s Building (on 18th between Guerrero and Valencia), from 11am – 2pm. It is part of a series of conventions that will be taking place in various neighborhoods throughout the city. It is cosponsored by the SF Tenants Union, the Housing Rights Committee, the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, the Metropolitan Community Church, and D8 Democrats.
