Deliberate and chronic underfunding is hitting our City College hard.
When City College is under attack, what do we do? STAND UP! FIGHT BACK! Corporate-led, chronic underfunding of our California community colleges has left our CCSF facing a cut of at least 25%, and we need to take action. This week hundreds of full-time CCSF faculty are receiving “pink slip” layoff notices. This is unprecedented and will undermine City College of San Francisco’s essential mission: to provide an accessible and quality education to all San Franciscans, especially those most at risk.
Join event sponsors AFT 2121, Supervisor Hillary Ronen, and other allies for a socially-distanced

2. Friday, 12Noon – 1:30pm, Tell Morgan Lewis: Union Busting is Disgusting! Support the BAmazon Union Drive!
In-person
Morgan Lewis
1 Market St. (at Spear)
SF
Rally & Picket
Rally to Support Alabama Amazon Workers’ Union Drive. Morgan Lewis has been hired to conduct a racist, union busting campaign in Bessemer, AL.
Morgan Lewis has insidiously helped Amazon remain union-free for years. It blocked union organizing efforts by technicians in 2014, and more recently it defended the company against workers’ lawsuits over inadequate COVID-19 safety and charges of discrimination filed by pro-Black Lives Matter workers.
Amazon’s anti-union propaganda and efforts to delay the Bessemer union vote, manipulate the bargaining unit and appeal the NLRB ruling supporting a mail-in union election come straight from the Morgan Lewis playbook.
Morgan Lewis has had over six decades to hone its union-busting skills. In the 1970s, the company appeared frequently in the AFL-CIO’s “Report on Union Busting.”
Local endorsers include: California Prison Focus/KAGE Universal; Poor Magazine; CURYJ – Oakland; Terry Taplin, Berkeley City Council Member; Richmond People’s Strike; East Bay DSA; Socialist Viewpoint; SF Bay View National Black Newspaper; Western Workers Assembly; Workers World Party; United Front for a Mass Labor Party

5. Friday, 1:00pm – 2:00pm, Decolonization and Rematriation: Cultivating Roots for Connection and Healing with Lakota Harden
$5 – $25 (sliding scale)
This Women’s History Month, long-time organizer and community leader Lakota Harden (Minnecoujou/Yankton Lakota and HoChunk) draws on her life experiences, ancestral memory, and four decades in Native American struggles to look at how we can liberate ourselves, our society, and cultivate roots for connection.
Lakota uses the framework of decolonization to counter its manifestations in gender, race, knowledge, and educational systems as well as rematriation, the act of returning or aligning with a collective worldview under the stewardship and leadership of women. She discusses how we can right historic wrongs rooted in white supremacy, settler colonialism, and patriarchy by lifting up cultural practices that restore balance to our lives and all our relations – human and non-human relatives alike.
This powerful virtual event will help us reclaim our original way of being and feel revived, encouraged, and empowered to continue our walk on this earth with self-respect, love, and deeper connections on a path to healing ourselves and our world. Lakota Harden is the best medicine one could hope to receive!

MUMIA has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and connective heart disease.
MUMIA ABU-JAMAL’S LABORED BREATHING PROMPTS PRESS CONFERENCE AT D.A.’s OFFICE, CALL FOR END TO INHUMANE IMPRISONMENT OF ILL AND ELDERLY
Mumia Abu-Jamal—an innocent husband, father, grandfather, imprisoned radio journalist, “voice of the voiceless,” political prisoner, award-winning author of more than 13 books, 66 years old with liver damage and high blood pressure—is experiencing chest pressure, labored breathing, and a marked change in the distinctive tenor of his voice. After political pressure through phone calls to officials, Mumia was tested for COVID and its antibodies. The prison reports that both were negative. However, officials are not always truthful about Mumia’s health condition. We remain very concerned about causes of his current symptoms, which need immediate medical evaluation. We await direct communication from Mumia to further update his supporters.
Independent physician with decades of work in prison advocacy, Dr. Ricardo Alvarez, noted “Prisons are the physical manifestation of Racism. Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, urges the release of ” older detainees and those who are sick.” ()
At the start of the pandemic, Gov. Wolf promised to reprieve 1,800 prisoners but he has only granted 165 reprieves. Separately, 14 people sentenced to life in prison, mostly from Philadelphia, were pardoned to life on parole by Gov. Wolf on Dec. 19th. However, he waited until Feb. 12th to approve their releases
It’s a fact that guards from rural COVID “red zones” are bringing COVID into the prisons. Meanwhile, those in prison are forced to live in their cells 23 hours a day. As a means of quarantine, those infected are held in “the hole,” causing many to hide their symptoms to avoid such punitive treatment.
Free Mumia and all incarcerated people over 50 in Pennsylvania and every state prison immediately.

Register Here: Meeting Registration – Zoom
GABRIELA Oakland alongside our incredible community partners invite you to a virtual gathering to commemorate International Working Women’s Day 2021, the 113th anniversary of the first women’s strike in NYC in 1908.
Join us as we Uphold the Legacy and Power of Women’s Resistance Here & Abroad! Together, we will be lifting up the internationalist struggles and stories of women workers, human rights defenders and Trans, and Gender Non Conforming communities around the world.
Let us gather together to RISE Up to demand an end to gender based violence against women and TGNC communities, RESIST militarization and displacement, and UNITE for relief, adequate protections. and mental health support for all workers.
Our #IWWD201 Points of Unity are:
1) We believe in open borders and rise up against the violences of immigration, forced migration, and displacement which make unwilling detainees and refugees of our communities and rip our families apart.
2) We are committed to exposing, fighting and dismantling imperialism, militarism, and state repression-. We echo the calls to Defund the Police, and invest in community-led public safety, which does not seek to silence or control us.
3) We are in solidarity with Black, Brown, and Indigenous women from Oakland to Palestine and the Philippines, demanding sovereignty and self-determination for their peoples,
4) We support women and TGNC
communities who are fighting economic injustice in the face of institutions and governments that value profit and political dominance, even in the midst of a deadly global pandemic, over the health and safety of their people.
5) We resist the extractive industries who control our current global economy and know that in order to secure a just and equitable future, we must combat the climate crisis.
We would also like to extend the invitation for your organization to support this year’s International Working Women’s Day celebration. Please fill out this form https://forms.gle/nJCk51rRKT1kk1su6.
