Vote NO on the Republican-Led Recall of Governor Newsom

August 17, 2021 (info@sfdemocrats.org)
San Francisco Democrats, ballots have dropped and voting has started for the September 14th recall election. Please join Democrats throughout the state in voting NO on the first question of whether Governor Newsom should be recalled.

The people behind the recall are national Republican interest groups and big Trump donors who want to stop Governor Newsom from fighting climate change and rebuilding after the pandemic. One of the Republican candidates running believes that the minimum wage should be $0. A lot of the progress we have made in California could be completely undone if we don’t turn out to vote in this election.

Here’s what you can do right now: Vote by mail and turn your ballot in as soon as possible: Every registered voter will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. If you mail it in, you don’t need a stamp, but make sure you sign the envelope! It must be postmarked by Election Day, but sooner is always better.

Vote early at the City Hall Voting Center in the basement of City Hall.
City Hall is open for voting starting August 16th. Weekdays: 8am-5pm. Weekends: 10am-4pm. Election Day: 7am-8pm. Any voter may request to vote “curbside” at the Voting Center by calling (415) 554-4375.

Talk to your family, friends, and neighbors. Make sure they are aware of this election and how to vote. Ask if they have received their ballot.

Help make calls to turn out voters! San Francisco Democrats are meeting every Saturday from 10am-1pm to make calls to voters about the recall. No prior phone banking experience needed. Volunteers will be trained before making calls. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required. For more info about upcoming events, visit: www.sfdemocrats.org/stoptherecall

While California may seem reliably Democratic, the recall polls show this is a very tight race. And, as a reminder, since 1975, we’ve had more Republican governors than Democratic governors!
