Monday, May 27

1. Monday, 7:30pm, Vigil for Palestine – All Eyes On Rafah

Lake Merritt Amphitheater
Oakland

This morning we woke up to the news of yet another massacre in Rafah. At least 60 bombs have been dropped in Block 2371; a tent encampment for internally displaced people- children, families- burned alive by the zionist state while sleeping, in a place supposed to be a safe zone.

This morning we are once again, grieving our martyrs as we enter the ninth month of this genocide. But we will not fall into despair. We will fall into community. Join us as we hold each other in our grief, rage and hope, so that we can continue to move forward together. Free Palestine, forever.

2. Tuesday, 4:00pm – 5:30pm, Mobilization on the 25th anniversary of the Visiting Forces Agreement  (US Out of the Philippines!)

Philippine Consulate
447 Sutter St. (nr. Powell St.)
SF

On the 25th anniversary of the Visiting Forces Act (VFA), Malaya Movement SF, San Francisco Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (SFCHRP), and BAYAN NorCal will host a short mobilization in front of the Philippine consulate on Tuesday, May 28 at 4pm.

Ratified in 1991, the VFA is an unequal policy between the Philippines and the US which outlines the parameters for US military personnel to enter and leave  the Philippines, the movement of military vessels and aircraft, and the import/export of military equipment.

There is a long recorded history of the United States using military agreements with the Philippines as a means to further encroach on the country’s sovereignty. The Philippines, on the other hand, utilize these agreements as means to embolden their own paramilitary forces which are known to brutalize human rights defenders.  This year, the PERA Act of 2024, or the Philippines Enhanced Resilience Act, has proposed to send $2.5 billion in U.S. military aid to the Philippines over the next 5 years.

Join Filipinos and allies alike on Tuesday to unite amongst one another as we echo the call to reject the Pera Act and to Junk the VFA!

Reject PERA Act and pass the PHRA!

Pera (money) for the people, not for war and militarization!

From Palestine to the Philippines, Stop the US War Machine!⁩!
