In the August/September 2024 issue of the Capitol Hill Citizen, we ran a front page article by Ralph Nader titled – “Exposing the Gaza Death Undercount: 40,000? It’s More Like 300,000.”
The article was reprinted by Congressman John Larson (D-Connecticut) in the Congressional Record on October 1, 2024.
Other public health experts made similar estimates.
And yesterday, Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sitta, a British Palestinian reconstructive surgeon who has worked in Gaza, appeared on Democracy Now and reiterated almost point by point the evidence in the Capitol Hill Citizen article a few months earlier.
The Hamas 45,000 figure excludes the thousands buried under the rubble and the tens of thousands who are dying from infectious diseases and untreated chronic illness.
Dr. Abu-Sitta also put the number closer to 300,000.
Devi Sridhar, Chair of Global Public Health at the University of Edinburgh, puts the number of dead in Gaza closer to half a million.
Where did you read it first?
In an old-fashioned print newspaper — the Capitol Hill Citizen.
