2. Friday, 3:00pm – 4:00pm, Free America! Berkeley Banner Drop – Pro-Democracy, Fight Fascism
I80 Pedestrian/Bike Overpass
University Ave and Second Street
Berkeley
Celebrate July 4th by taking part in an overpass visibility event on the I80 pedestrian overpass in Berkeley @ University Ave.
We’ll use huge letters to spell out an inspiring message about freedom for ALL OF US on the 4th of July for passing cars. Exact messaging TBD depending on current events. There will be bubbles, pom-poms, and lots of waving for freedom.
Parking is easiest on the bay side of the bridge at Brickyard Cove Park next to Seabreeze Market, near the corner of Frontage Road and University Ave. We have signs large enough to be easily read from the freeway. It can get windy up there, so bring layers and a spirit of solidarity in resistance.
CELEBRATE FREEDOM. IGNITE YOUR REBELLION
Your freedom. Your people. Your rebellion.

5. Sunday, 1:00pm – 3:00pm, Boycott Chevron Picket
Temescal Chevron
5500 Telegraph Avenue
Telegraph & 55th, Oakland
Join a monthly demonstration at the Chevron in Temescal | 5500 Telegraph in Oakland | FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH, 1-3 PM
Signs and chants will be provided. Bring your energy and tambourines!
Israel’s genocide machine couldn’t run without power from Chevron. Israel’s war on Gaza and Occupation of Palestine contributes to the climate catastrophe. Chevron supplies light and energy via its operation and co-ownership of two major Israeli-claimed fossil gas fields in the Mediterranean.
Chevron’s extraction activities are funneling millions of dollars in tax revenues to Israeli government coffers, directly fueling Israel’s system of settler colonialism and violence against all Palestinians. In 2022, those revenues amounted to over $462 million.
BDS is a global nonviolent Palestinian led movement, and we demand that Chevron immediately cut its contracts with genocidal Israel, and end its role in climate devastation globally.
Following in the tradition of the anti-apartheid gas station boycotts of the 60s & 70s, Palestinians and allies are building a global movement to hold Chevron accountable for its crimes through a coordinated boycott of Chevron gas stations and products around the world.
Join the campaign: Pledge to #BoycottChevron now at bit.ly/boycottchevron.

7. Sunday, 3:00pm – 5:00pm, Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Charleston Five Longshore Struggle at ILWU10
ILWU Local 10
Henry Schmidt Room
400 North Point St.
San Francisco
This is the room where the class struggle initiative to defend the Charleston South Carolina longshore union was decided. ILA 1422 in Charleston, South Carolina faced an organizing attack by the companies and state to busting the union with non-union labor. The East Coast International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) President John Bowers refused to back his members decrying it an “illegal” act. Local 10 President Lawrence Thibeaux (recently deceased) and Executive Board member Jack Heyman were the first to go to their defense.
Retired member Clarence Thomas will dedicate this forum to Brother Thibeaux citing his role in organizing Local 10’s battles. Retired Local 10 member Jack Heyman, a supporter of the Internationalist Group, will speak on ILWU’s leading role in the American labor movement in supporting the Charleston 5.

Mohamad Saleh was shot in the leg by an Israeli sniper during the Great March of Return protests in Gaza in 2018 when he was just 12 years old. Three years later, after medical interventions failed, doctors amputated his leg. Mohamad was the subject of a 2019 short film from Donkeysaddle Projects that chronicled his difficulties receiving medical care and navigating the complex process to leave Gaza for treatment. Now, Mohamad is 18 years old, living in exile in Cairo, Egypt after fleeing Gaza with his mother following Israel’s campaign of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
“Severed” is Donkeysaddle Projects’ new short film about Mohamad’s escape to Cairo and his life now in Egypt, navigating family separation and an uncertain future.
