Even though the Biden Administration has decided to end the Covid-19 public health emergency declaration later this spring, we all know that U.S. health care remains in crisis: from the pandemic, from racial and economic inequities, and from decades of corporate profiteering and plundering of our public goods.

On Thursday, March 23, PNHP will host a conversation to put these crises in context. We’re delighted to welcome two accomplished and celebrated physician leaders, authors, and single-payer champions who are engaged in the fight for health justice: Farzon Nahvi and Abdul El-Sayed.

I hope you’ll save the date to join us on March 23, and I hope you’ll urge your colleagues to tune in. This conversation will be an ideal way to introduce a fellow health professional to PNHP and to get them thinking about single payer as the solution to our broken and fractured health care system.

More about our speakers:

Dr. Farzon Nahvi is an emergency medicine physician and a member of the PNHP NY Metro Advisory Board. He testified before Congress in support of single payer in 2019, and recently published a memoirCode Gray: Death, Life, and Uncertainty in the Emergency Room.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed is the former Health Director for the City of Detroit. He also testified before Congress in support of single payer (in 2022), and delivered the keynote address at PNHP’s 2019 Annual Meeting. He is the co-author (with Dr. Micah Johnson) of the essential Medicare for All: A Citizen’s Guide.

Please RSVP for our March 23 webinar, spread the word to your colleagues, and make a plan to join us for what’s sure to be an engaging and inspiring conversation.
