To our beloved community that makes CCSF a community college.

These cuts won’t heal: Stop a 1/3 cut to City College of San Francisco

As the school year draws near to a close, we want to update you on what is happening at City College of San Francisco. We say NO to a 1/3 cut to our City College. Our college, our choice!

Join AFT 2121 and the Grow Our CCSF Coalition for a special City Hall press conference and hearingconvened by Supervisor Matt Haney on the issue of CCSF Class Cuts

City Hall Press Conference and Hearing
Friday, May 10
Press conference, 9am on the Polk St Steps
Hearing is at 10 AM in room 263 #TheseCutsWontHeal

The Grow our CCSF Coalition is Jobs with Justice, AFT 2121, Community Housing Partnership, San Francisco Rising Alliance, and the CCSF Student Assembly. We’ve built momentum and we need to keep going. While the Administration is steering the college down a path that decimates the broad and diverse curriculum that San Franciscans have consistently needed and defended by implements drastic cuts to the Fall 2019 schedule, we continue to fight to keep the community in our City College.

The justification used for the cuts is that the college doesn’t have enough money to continue serving the needs of our community, yet, the cuts even include classes with healthy enrollments that would bring in revenue to the college.

Furthermore, in this year that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the victory to implement Ethnic Studies at SFSU, it is tragic to see our own Diversity classes on the chopping block. These classes are the bedrock of equity and our pride in the diversity of San Francisco.

From West Virginia to Los Angeles to Oakland, teachers, students, parents, and communities are taking action to defend public education. San Francisco, too, must defend our beloved institution from death by a thousand cuts.
We ask you to join City College faculty and students to demand that our elected Board of Trustees and our Chancellor uphold the College’s core mission: providing access to higher education for all.
