Sunrisers across the West Coast will show up at Representative Pelosi’s office in San Francisco with candles (electric) to memorialize the 85 people burned in the most recent fires, and carrying items that represent what they are fighting to protect from the climate crisis. Speakers will share stories of why they are in this fight and why a Green New Deal is our only hope to protect the communities we come from and hold dear from the fires increasing in frequency and severity at an alarming rate. In California people are already experiencing climate change; climate change is here in the form of drought-induced infernos across the state. We are calling on our leaders to take action in alignment with what science and justice demand. Join us.

If you are in CA or on the West Coast and interested in attending this powerful action remembering lives already lost and staking a claim to a right for our generation not to be left to burn in the years to come, please register for the action here.

Mon. Dec. 10th 6-9pm – Action training ***required in order to attend the action***
Tues. Dec. 11th 8:15am – ACTION DAY

One Response to Fight for a Green New Deal

  1. Carol Wilson says:

You may have a better impact by gently encouraging the building industry and Insurers to use Aircrete instead of wood for buildings, along with better municipal emergency preparation (the main street egress was not widened in previous years in Paradise) for towns in known fire danger areas.

The fires have caused tragedies for years previous when there was no recorded climate change, hence your premise that climate change caused the Paradise fire is incorrect.

PG&E could also improve their maintenance, as it has been heard that their towers may have caused the fire.

Having a protest where you inconvenience the people visiting the building by blocking the doors suggests that you lower yourself to the level of bully/hostage taker. This really should not have been allowed, no other protest group has been allowed to block the doors. I lost respect for your organization because of this. I work in the Federal Building and was forced to use the side entrance, only after finding a police man to tell me where I could enter. Your spokesperson blocking the doors erroneously directed me to speak to another woman, who when I asked her where this woman was, the spokesperson could not tell me.

Your organization has become a ‘blanket cliche’ group that flails itself upon any thing deemed protestable, and using tactics that only dictators and thugs use (blocking the doors). Where did you learn these techniques? At a Trump Rally?
