There are few politicians who have had as great of an impact in the fight for Medicare for All as Senator Sanders. In 2016, Bernie and NNU worked together to elevate Medicare for All to the national mainstream, and we’ve been organizing to build this movement ever since.

In April 2019, Bernie introduced a Medicare for All bill in the Senate, which was co-sponsored by four major candidates running for president. Now, he’s leading the fight to pass a historic expansion and improvement of the Medicare program in his role as Chair of the Senate Budget Committee while continuing to lead the fight for Medicare for All in the Senate.

You’ll have the chance to hear directly from Bernie on the status of this fight and what’s needed to move the needle forward on Medicare for All. Please RSVP now to save your spot.

And after we hear from Bernie, we’ll share more about our organizing plans for the fall. You don’t want to miss out!

Hope to see you tomorrow.

Nurses’ Campaign to Win Medicare for All

National Nurses United

It has been a busy few months for our movement, and we’re coming up on some big events that could change the game for our work to win Medicare for All.

Here are just a few things on the horizon:

  1. Medicare expansion and improvement: We’re working hard to make sure our demands to lower the age of eligibility, expand coverage, and include an out-of-pocket cap for Medicare make it into the budget reconciliation package. If and when we win, we’ll need to be ready to build on this momentum to fight for Medicare for All.
  2. Committee Hearings on Medicare for All: In the coming months, it’s very possible that HR 1976, the Medicare for All Act of 2021, will have committee hearings in the House. If and when these hearings happen, it will be a huge opportunity to mobilize – and we need to be prepared.
  3. Medicare for All Senate Bill: Senator Bernie Sanders is expected to release the Medicare for All companion bill in the Senate this fall, and we’ll need to put pressure on every senator to sign on as a cosponsor.

There’s a lot coming up – which is why we’re convening a National Strategy Call on August 26th to reboot, discuss our priorities ahead, and plan out our strategy for the fall.

Winning expansion and improvement of Medicare in the short term will be life changing for millions of people, but our eyes are on the prize, Mike. We are getting ready to build on the momentum of this victory to win Medicare for All, and we need your help.

We have the power to make real change. Because of our organizing, we’re on the right track to win the largest expansion of Medicare since it was created. With the same dedication, we can secure more cosponsors on HR 1976 and get one step closer to passing Medicare for All.

We need all hands on deck to make this fall as powerful as it can be. There will be many opportunities to push our movement forward – but only if we have everyone onboard.

Will you RSVP now to join our National Strategy Call on August 26 at 5pm PT/8pm ET? You don’t want to miss it.

Talk to you then.

These strategy calls are a key way that we stay united and informed as a movement. Especially during Covid when we aren’t together in person, these meetings are a one-stop shop to get caught up and plugged in quickly.

They don’t happen often, but when they do, it’s really important that we have as many people on the call as possible. And because this is a virtual gathering, you can participate and ask questions while you cook dinner, go for a walk, or even fold laundry.
