JOIN US TO CALL ON GOVERNOR NEWSOM TO KEEP THE PROMISE OF MEDICARE FOR ALL WITH RALLIES IN LOS ANGELES, OAKLAND & MORE ON JULY 31st, 2021
The 56th anniversary of Medicare is July 30th and healthcare advocates are using the day after this anniversary to call on California Governor Gavin Newson to keep his promise to bring single payer healthcare to California and for federal representatives to redouble their effort for “Medicare for All”.

To make universal state-sponsored healthcare coverage a reality Gov. Newsom would need to apply for a waiver from the federal government. With former CA Attorney General and single payer proponent Xavier Becerra now serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services the time is right to request the waiver. It’s time for Governor Newsom to live up to his campaign promise, to engage with the federal administration, and to ensure that the recommendations born from his Healthy California for All Commission push forward the virtues of single payer as he campaigned on.
We saw the urgency on the state level after an unprecedented pandemic, and continue to organize to win guaranteed healthcare for all. After our successful events in Sacramento and the statewide virtual rally in June with Dolores Huerta, now is the time for us to continue to take action and push for the single payer solution. Join us at events in Los Angeles, Oakland, and more locations (coming soon). This event will be a chance to remember the promise of Medicare, which originally was intended to be expanded to all. We will also be holding loved ones in memory who have passed away due to COVID-19 and/or lack of access to healthcare. Please wear black and bring memories of loved ones to build a community memorial. Join with those in the most affected communities, organizers who hope to amplify the pressure on both Governor Gavin Newsom and state representatives.
The Keep The Promise events have been endorsed by Physicians for a National Health Program California, Progressive Democrats of America-California, National Union of Healthcare Workers, Progressive Asian Network for Action, Pilipino Workers Center, Healthy California Now, California Alliance for Retired Americans, Sunrise Movement LA, Democratic Socialists of America—Los Angeles, Democrats of Pasadena Foothills, HEAL California, Move to Amend, Inland Equity Partnership, Health Care for All California, James Lawson Institute, California OneCare, Health Care for All San Fernando Valley, Long Beach Gray Panthers, and others.
The events will take place on July 31st at 2:00pm Pacific.

P.S. If you missed our webinar with Dr. James Kahn last night, you can watch it on our YouTube channel. An excellent discussion of single payer: how we do it, what it can look like, how we can pay for it… and that we need to keep focused on winning guaranteed healthcare for all!
