Public Banking Happy Hour
Join DSA SF’s Climate & Environmental Justice Committee and the SF Public Bank Coalition for an evening of drinks and discussion! This time we’ll have a very special guest: former San Francisco Supervisor John Avalos, who also currently serves on the City Treasurer’s Public Bank Task Force.
John is an OG of the fight to create a public bank in San Francisco. It was his tireless agitation for the bank as supervisor that led the city attorney’s office to reverse course and declare public banking legally feasible for San Francisco. That in turn set the stage for our effort to divest the city’s money from pipeline-and-prison-funding private banks and move it into a publicly-owned people’s bank that operates for the good of the community. Friday 6:30PM at Rite Spot
