As of October 2021, these three men are cleared for release.

activists will gather in front of the Oakland Federal Building to demand that Congressional representative Barbara Lee to join Representatives Jayapal (D-WA) and Defazio(D-OR) and endorse a War Powers Resolution to end US support for the War in Yemen.
The conflict in Yemen has raged for over 7 years and is the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today. The war is being waged by a coalition led by Saudi Arabia, a key US ally in the middle east. The Saudi War effort is entirely dependent on US political and military support.
One year ago, President Biden pledged to end support for “offensive” action in Yemen. Since that time, the war has only escalated with Biden’s recent pledge to send more fighter jets and weapons in the last month. A war Powers Resolution would end the US’s role in supporting a terrible blockade that is starving the country as Saudi Arabia drops bombs on civilian targets. Congress has allowed this war to go on long enough
endorsed by United Against War and Militarism, Hands off Yemen, Malaya Movement East Bay and the Palestinian Youth Movement.

Come with your questions on the underlying causes and dangers of this war, the actual history of Ukraine, the role of the U.S. in all this—and our role, as people living within the US, the main oppressor in the world today.
“‘[T]he essence of the conflict between the U.S. and countries like Russia and China is not one between “democracy” and “authoritarianism,” but is a matter of rivalry among imperialist powers, all of which are monstrous oppressors of masses of people, and none of which represent or act in the interests of humanity…’

Online: Livestream: https://www.poorpeoplescampaign.org/livestream/
Join us for an interfaith discussion about how the lessons of the Selma Bridge crossing and the civil rights movement can be applied to our future
and where we are being called into action from here.
As we approach 57 years since the march across Edmund Pettus bridge, we are faced with the haunting reality that the forces that stood against equal voting rights are still at work. These same forces are not only opposing equal voting rights for all but are also oppressing living wages, denying universal healthcare, rejecting ecological restoration, cutting care for our children, withholding rights for the immigrant, funding the war economy, and more. We refuse to let these forces of evil have the last say in this fight for justice. Join us on Friday, March 4 at 8pm ET / 7pm CT for an interfaith discussion about how the lessons of the past can be applied to our future and where we are being called into action from here.

the New Bataan 5: a group of five individuals including two volunteer teachers for the Lumad community who were killed last week by members of the Philippine military.
Their killiing is not an isolated event as attacks against human rights defenders have heightened in the Philippines especially after the passage of the Anti Terror Law in 2020, which conflates activism and terrorism.
Hear from a variety of different speakers representing various communities such as youth and teachers who will share their insight on how the brutal murder of the New Bataan 5 is emblematic of a larger issue against indigenous communities and activists in the Philippines.
Terror tagging or red tagging is a common tactic utilized by the Philippine government, police and military to criminalize activists and those critical of the government. Indigenous communities face an onslaught of these attacks due to the value of their ancestral lands to corporations and foreign entities.

ABOLISH NATO!
Ukraine – Russia – NATO: what’s behind the crisis?
Hear from anti-war organizer Gloria La Riva on the latest events in Europe, the root of the crisis, and how to get involved in the anti-war movement.
The Russian military operation in Ukraine highlights that the world has reached a dangerous fork in the road.
It is critically important for people in the United States, who are receiving the bulk of their information from the capitalist media that functions as an echo chamber for the U.S. government, to know that the current crisis is the byproduct of a long effort by the United States to establish absolute domination throughout Europe.
The U.S. policy is aimed at undermining Russia’s security by surrounding it with advanced missiles that can reach their Russian targets in less than 10 minutes.
The conflict currently exploding in Ukraine and rippling throughout the region and the entire world is hugely dangerous. The reckless and provocative actions of the U.S. government and its allies must cease immediately. The economic warfare being unleashed against Russia — which will first and foremost affect the country’s working class — will only deepen the crisis, as would troop deployments anywhere in Europe.

As Hondurans honor the memory of Berta Cáceres this month, we will be joined by her daughter Bertha representing the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations in Honduras (COPINH) and Víctor Fernández from the Broad Movement for Dignity and Justice (MADJ)
We’ll discuss Berta’s legacy and what the recent election of President Xiomara Castro could mean for the ongoing struggle against destructive extractive projects in the country. MAPA speakers will describe past and upcoming solidarity work and how you can take action in solidarity with the Honduran people
Speakers:
Bertha Zúniga Cáceres is a General Coordinator of COPINH and a social movement leader in Honduras. She is the daughter of Berta Cáceres and has worked tirelessly over the past six years to demand justice for her mother and expose the criminal structure behind her murder.
Víctor Fernández, co-founder of MADJ, is a leading Honduran human rights lawyer and social movement leader. Previously, as President of the Association of Honduran prosecutors he was part of a 38-day hunger strike against corruption. He also leads the team of lawyers representing the family of murdered indigenous leader Berta Cáceres.
Brigitte Gynther is School of the America Watch’s Program and Research Coordinator and has lived and worked in Central America for the past decade. She spent several years as a human rights accompanier in Honduras, documenting human rights violations and accompanying human rights organizations and social movements. She closely accompanied Berta Caceres prior to her 2016 assassination and was deeply involved in efforts to seek justice following her murder.
Allison Lira is the Director of the Honduras program for the Witness for Peace Solidarity Collective and is based in northern Honduras. She accompanies at risk human rights defenders and communities and works with grassroots organizations to document human rights violations.

International Women’s Day
13. Tuesday, 12 Noon – 2:00pm Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights on International Women’s Day!
In person
Sproul Plaza – Entrance nr. Telegraph & Bancroft
UC Berkeley
One hour rally to be followed by march through the city of Berkeley.
We Refuse to Let the U.S. Supreme Court
Deny Women’s Humanity & Decimate Their Rights!
ABORTION ON DEMAND & WITHOUT APOLOGY!
Everyone for reproductive justice is welcome. Our first hour of this action will be a rally on the campus in Sproul Plaza (near campus entrance) where we will rise up to say Roe v. Wade must stand.
Roe was the landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. Yet Roe v. Wade protects so much more than abortion rights. It protects other core, basic human rights including marriage equality and access to contraceptives and fertility treatments like IVF. This is EVERYONE’s cause. Step up and step out with us!
Without an immediate and large uprising, the Supreme Court stands poised to decimate this landmark decision. The Women’s March, which in past years organized actions on International Women’s Day, has abandoned the cause of preserving Roe v. Wade and is already planning for a post-Roe America. We say NO to that response. Join us in Berkeley as we rise up on March 8 as part of a national day of action.
Host: Bay Area Coalition for IWD Action

14. Tuesday, 5:00pm International Women’s Day 2022:Defend Abortion Rights! Rally
In person
Meet at:
Powell & Market St.
SF
Women’s rights are under attack. The unelected and unaccountable body of the Supreme Court is threatening to reverse decades of struggle for abortion rights by undermining the precedent of Roe v. Wade in Mississippi and Texas.
The Democratic Party stands idly by while the assault on women’s reproductive rights and bodily autonomy continues, disproportionately effecting poor women and working-class women of color. Join us in the streets to make our voices heard!
On Feb. 28, the Senate voted on the Women’s Health Protection Act, defeating the bill in a 46-48 vote. The WHPA, a landmark bill that would have enshrined the right to abortion access
The Senate vote is disappointing but not surprising, as Senate Republicans and conservative Democrats continue to refuse to represent the interests of their constituencies. If politicians’ votes reflected the will of the people, WHPA would pass easily—80% of Americans support access to abortion in all or most cases.
We demand abortion to be legalized nationwide! We demand an end to state-sanctioned violence against women here in the U.S. and abroad! We demand an end to systemic exploitation of women’s work and labor worldwide!
